Apple has already attempted to fix some bugs on the super-hot iPhone 3G, but there are signs that more problems are yet to be addressed. The AppleInsider blog reports that another bug fix will be rolled out with a software update in September. It may have to do with glitch related to loading new applications on to the iPhone.
Many tech companies, including Microsoft, issue regular software updates to fix problems. But Apple has a reputation to uphold, and a flurry of recent issues with its products don't make the company look good.
Why are so many tech products so buggy? In part, it's because companies are in a huge rush to get them to market. And it's also because of the way software is written.
The usual technique is to bang out a program quickly. For many programmers I know, this is done at 3 a.m. on a diet of Red Bull and Doritos. Then you try it to see if it works. If there's problems, you go back and fix them.
But sometimes problems get overlooked, and products gets buggy. This fascinating article from the MIT Technology Review argues that programmers should take more time carefully planning and writing their code in the first place, rather than looking for mistakes later.
